Kid-tastic San Francisco

OMG Summer is almost over - where to start?   Let's start with the time at home...

While kids may not be the norm in SF, it continues to exceed expectations with kid friendliness.   Summer is no exception.  The camps offered around town are wide ranging....

Q enjoyed/endured an intense soccer camp.

(no picture - imagine a limp noodle in a gorgeous park)

Z a day camp - in Glen Canyon park ~1 mile from us that feels like the middle of no where..

And circus camp where they learned to acrobat & clown...
(Z on top)
(Z upside-down)

Meanwhile, X enjoyed X-Kids - programming, robotics & chess....

In addition, we brought our niece Lauren out for a week of 'Camp Lan-Francisco'.  We had no trouble filling a week with kid fun around town...

First up, some SF basics....
1) Hill training - with a very vertical walk to Billy Goat Hill
(Yea - a swing again!  It's a continuous game of cat & mouse where neighbors put up swings & the park district cuts them down)

2) Public transit training - we forget that city buses and trams are novel if you grow up out of a city...

3) Walk to ice cream training - a critical city skill

Next up, some of our SF family faves....
1) House of Air - wall to wall trampolines
(Lauren's mad water polo skills were put to good use in dodge-ball!)

2) Crissy Field Beach - I should have known 'just dipping our feet in' would never suffice

Yes - the water IS cold year round!

3) The Exploratorium - maybe the only museum kids don't get bored of
Always love the perspective room

Finally, a tourist fave we had intentionally avoided - Pier 39 - way more fun than expected...

1) A cool aquarium - loads of fish to see & some to pet too

2) A random fun '7D experience' - kind of a virtual roller coaster while you shoot things

3) A wild Rocket Boat ride - they play AC/DC and spin in wild turns, what's not to love?!

We cap stoned 'camp' with a weekend in Tahoe - the ropes course in the trees is fab - but made me miss Kiev prices (5 in Kiev = 1 in Tahoe)

After it all, this 'camp counselor' needed refreshment....

Here's to summer camps & the counselors I now appreciate are clearly underpaid!
